The velvet part is not weather resistant. The plastic backing gives the ribbon more stability against the weather. If the ribbon is wired it adds to the stability and usually is good enough for outdoor use. Folks in stormy or snowy areas do prefer the waterproof wired ribbon in my experience. This bow has smaller loops than others in my shop. It is what I call a standard size bow. Don't forget to order bows for your tree, mailbox, swags, garlands and gifts!
